“Passionate People Push Projects”

The above says it all – our members are passionate about doing “hands-on” Service Projects. That phrase has become our Northmount Kiwanis Service Projects credo.

Throughout the year, our Northmount Kiwanis members and our “Friends of Kiwanis” volunteer for numerous service projects. You don’t have to be a member to join us at our Service Project “hands-on” events.

Just email us with the subject line “Service Projects” and we will add your name to our Distribution List. It is the best way to see first-hand, how our Northmount Kiwanis members volunteer. This could be you also!

Northmount Kiwanis uses the online tool SignUp to collect volunteer names as our service projects become available for our Kiwanis members and friends. That is the distro list you can be a part on to be notified of our next service project “hands-on”.

Kiwanis International, at its core, maintains and supports 3 signature Service Leadership Programs (SLP’s). These provide our members with opportunities to serve, build character, and develop their leadership skills.

Service Leadership Programs (SLP)

  • Circke K (CKI (University Students)
    • Circle K International (CKI) is one of the world’s largest student-led collegiate service organizations, with thousands of members on hundreds of campuses across the globe.
  • Key Club (High School Students)
    • Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.
  • Aktion Club (adults living with disabilities)
    • Aktion Club is a Service Leadership Program that provides adults living with disabilities opportunities to give back to their communities, build leadership and decision-making skills, and develop and use their talents. Ultimately, Aktion Club helps to improve their self-esteem. People living with disabilities—more than anything—want to be treated like everyone else, and Aktion Club allows that to happen.

Northmount Kiwanis members lead and involve themselves with our local Circle K Club at the University of Calgary. We also have members leading a Key Club at North Trail High School in Calgary. Other members volunteer and support our local Aktion Club in Calgary with regular project participation. Through these 3 programs, our members build their leadership skills as they become mentors to our participants.
