Scholarship – Mel Osborne

A. About The Scholarship

The Mel Osborne Scholarship is awarded to Circle K or Key Club members only.

The Scholarship is awarded by the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount, to recognize demonstrated commitment to volunteer community service and leadership within the community at large.

• The scholarship amount is $1000
• The recipient must be a full-time post-secondary student in good standing, and proof of enrollment in the next semester will be required.
• The Scholarship Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount will assess applicants primarily on volunteer involvement in community service and leadership. Financial need and academic achievement are secondary considerations.
• A formal application in the prescribed form must be completed and submitted by email no later than September 30, 2024.  Presentation of the scholarship may occur in person at a Kiwanis meeting, in the Fall of 2024.

(Closing Date may be extended at the committee’s discretion)

B. How To Apply

The application has five (5) components and the completed components can be emailed to the Scholarship Committee – Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount, by September 30, 2024.

C. Components

1. Application form containing applicant details.
2. Community Service log outlining the applicant’s involvement in various community service organizations or volunteer projects that benefit the community or individuals in need.
3. A brief essay (maximum 300 words) to highlight the applicant’s leadership experience either formally or informally to improve organizations, communities or causes in which they participate or support. 
4. The opportunity to provide other information you believe relevant.
5. Provide proof of enrollment and confirmation of status as a full-time student in good standing (as defined by the Institution and the program of studies) and returning to the institution the following semester.
